Virginia Theatre Festival – Box Office summer employees needed

Virginia Theatre Festival is seeking Box Office staff to provide customer service, cash and credit card handling, and ticketing services for our Summer 2023 season. These positions are flexible, with staff working 20-30 hours a week, and would be ideal for students who might be taking summer classes or are interested in gaining experience working in the arts. Allbritton Journalism Institute—accepting applications

The Allbritton Journalism Institute will offer $60,000 annual stipends to aspiring or early-career reporters to spend up to two years in Washington studying journalism. Participants will attend classes with accomplished journalists and hone their skills by working alongside veteran reporters and editors on a new, non-partisan publication that will cover government, policy and politics. Majid Shafiee-Jood, a faculty member in UVA’s School of Engineering, is looking to hire a video editor. With Good Reason seeks a paid summer media intern

With Good Reason, a nationally-broadcast, public radio show based at Virginia Humanities in Charlottesville is looking for a summer paid student worker, with the possibility to continue on into the school year. Our student worker focuses on digital marketing, with a particular focus on making audiograms each week. This includes editing small chunks of audio and creating images to go with each episode. The Economist is seeking interns to write about foreign affairs. The internships will be London-based and paid. Social Media/Marketing Intern (16 hours per week): responsible for assisting in a range of marketing initiatives within The Arts Center in Orange. The Collegiate SeriesFest Season 8 Festival is now open for submissions. They are accepting episodic pilot work as well as unpublished pilot scripts until March 3rd - winners will be showcased at the in-person festival May 5th-11th in Denver, CO. Life After Sport; There’s More To It is a podcast started by Media Studies graduates and UVA student athletes to help normalize the mental health challenges and identity crises student athletes face upon graduating and leaving their sport for good. Each week, they talk with different retired student athletes about their stories, experiences, and advice. They’ve had Olympic athletes come on, professional athletes scheduled to come on, and athletes of all sports and colleges/universities…including a handful that are UVA grads. The podcast is small but growing and needs some production help—someone who is willing to edit raw audio, post on their socials, and come up with episode descriptions and Instagram captions. The Bowdoin Journal of Cinema is looking for work that offers deep insights, unique perspectives, and fresh takes on any topic in film/cinema studies.
